ZweihaenderZweihaender - $50.00/$30.00Scroll to bottom for audio demos and demo version of Zweihaender. Zweihaender is the German term for a two-handed sword. Hence, I thought it a fitting name for a 2-osc, 2-filter synth with an edge, if you'll forgive the marketing speak. This has been in development for a long time- in fact, some of the ideas go back as far as several years ago when I made something called sf2synth. I've always had a fondness for sample-based synthesis with an emphasis on the "synth" part. This is my contribution to that arena. Basic feature list: * Full stereo signal path. * 2 soundfont oscillators. Can load other soundfonts, as well as the included content. Both oscs have octave, semitone, and fine tuning, stereo balance/panning, and a distortion/waveshaping section with multiple types of distortion, and osc 1 can modulate the frequency of osc 2. There is also a bit-depth reduction effect (applied before the filter in the signal path) to get that gritty effect like those 80's "hybrid" synths. There are also soft-limiting/overdrive stages after each audio source and filter, for internal overdrive effects. * Ring modulator (osc 1 ring-modulates osc 2) and noise source. * 2 multi-mode filters. Including many filter types (multiple low and highpass types, 2 bandpass types, 2 notch types, parametric eq, and allpass). Both oscs, the ring modulator, and the noise source can be routed to either or both filters, and filter 1 can be routed into filter 2. The oscs can also be used as filter modulation sources. * Extremely flexible and easy to use modulation matrix. 9 sources, 16 destinations, freely routable. For maximum flexiblity, some destinations can be switched from their default routing. Modulation sources include 2 LFOs, 3 envelopes, velocity, mod wheel, and the combiner as seen in the noisebot synths and my DC09 entry. There is also a fourth envelope "hard-wired" to the final amplitude. The LFOs can sync to host tempo. * Global chorus effect. * Large library of included sounds in sf2 format, including a large variety of waveform-style sounds, basses, leads, pads, and fx sounds. I may add or remove stuff during the preset-building process. Sound sources include various synthesizers (among them a certain classic Roland machine I recently had to part with), found sounds, and even my Ibanez bass. Note that although some sources were of an acoustic nature, that is not at all the sound of the included soundset. Everything here is designed with synthetic sounds in mind, there is just ocasionally an organic flavor involved. This product is not intended to compete with the bigger ROMpler type products or be a source for your bread-and-butter piano/organ/orchestra general-purpose sounds. What it is intended for is a source of bleeps, drones, sweeps, otherworldly choirs, atmospheres, punchy basses, razor-sharp leads, and various strangeness and chaos. It's well-suited to those who like to roll their own when it comes to sounds, but will also come with a good selection of presets for those who don't don lab coats before entering the studio. In all other ways, the demo is identical to the full version- no timeouts or limits on usage. |
