Poly-800 MkII

Korg Poly-800 MkII

This was my first "real" synth (as in, not a Casio preset machine), which I sold my PlayStation to fund the purchase of back in 1997 or so. It's actually capable of some pretty cool sounds, especially noisy fx stuff, thanks to the built-in modulated delay effect and multi-stage envelopes.

Another thing that makes this synth a little different than most other DCO synths is that the oscillators have a sort of additive function where you can switch 4 octaves at a time on & off. That is, in addition to a selector for the base octave, there are also switches for 4 "footages"- 16', 8', 4', & 2'.

There are a number of mods which can be done to this synth, some of which are detailed in links below. I have satrted to mod mine, see my blog for some photos & stuff.
