Little Drummer Boy

Little Drummer Boy by Master Zap

This was my very first music shareware purchase, way back when. Created by the guy behind the Stomper soft synth, it's a non-realtime loop-creation tool which can sequence Stomper sounds or wav files, and either play back the result (after rendering) or render it to disk.

Though rather primitive by today's standards, at the time it was really quite nice. It has a cool feature for reversing sounds that let you specify whether the reversed sound should start at the specified step, or stop there.

Many of my early tracks were created using only this and soundfonts played from a first-gen Soundblaster Live, sequenced in a program that only supported MIDI and 4 mono (or 2 stereo) audio tracks.

This program can now be downloaded for free from Master Zap's website at the link above.
